Neoseiulus californicus controls spider mites on cucumber, tomato, rose, strawberry, grapes in greenhouse or open ground. Feeds on eggs and larvae. In greenhouse it is applied together with Phytoseiulus.
Introduction preventively is the most effective method at ratio 5-10 units per m2 every 2-3 weeks. On high pest density apply 15-30 units per m2.
Neoseiulus californicus tolerates with temperature from 10 to 38°С and at humidity 50-80%.
Transparant white-orange to yellow, size 0.1 mm, oval body. Females are bigger than males. Mite color depends on nutrition.
Females lays 50-60 eggs during life (1-4 eggs per day). Development includes all stages that Phytoseiidae have (egg, larva, protonymph, deutonymph, adult). Development continues from 5 to 10 days at temperature 30°С and 21°С.
Predator can feed on thrips larvae, pollen, small phytophages unless there is no main prey. Population decreases if predators feed not the main prey. Can cannibal, females eat their eggs. Predator does not have diapause.
